ABOUT LOS RICOS

Los Ricos is the vision of dancer Sonia Olla and singer Ismael Fernández.
Hailed by the New York Times as a “...furnace of earthy sensuality” Sonia Olla creates the dance. With what the Washington Post calls his “connection to the Gypsy Source” Ismael Fernandez creates the song. Together they create Los Ricos.

Sonia and Ismael have traveled the world alongside flamenco legends such as Antonio Canales, Eva Yerbabuena, María Pagés, La Farruca, and others. They collaborated with pop star Madonna on her Rebel Heart Tour (2015-2016), where Sonia created the choreography and Ismael’s voice was immortalized in “La Isla Bonita.” In the pop world, Sonia also choreographed the flamenco section of Ricky Martin’s All In! show for the song “Lola Lola,” while Ismael contributed with his vocals.

Los Ricos have toured Asia and the Caribbean, performing in theaters across New York and participating in flamenco festivals throughout North America, from Santa Fe (New Mexico) to Edmonton (Canada). The company has also taken part in the International Dance Festival in Cuba. The duo was invited as special guests to perform for His Excellency, the Ambassador of Spain in Washington D.C., and they have been featured artists at the New York Flamenco Festival on numerous occasions.

Currently, they are the only artists in North America offering classes on the concept of Flamenco dance with singing at their own studio, The House of Flamenco.

They were recipients of the CUNY residency in 2018 and 2019 and continue their collaboration with solo performances in 2024 and 2025.

In 2025 and 2026, Los Ricos will perform at various flamenco and world music festivals in the United States and Spain, including a return to the prestigious Carnegie Hall alongside opera mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard.

Their latest project is the release of their new album Vinculo, produced by Bullseye Recording Studios. Featuring producers Rudy Pérez and Ricardo Eddy Martínez, the album includes compositions by Grammy winners Rudy Pérez, Jorge Luis Piloto and Ismael Fernandez.

Los Ricos reside in New York City, where they have their own creative space, The House of Flamenco. Their studio is the only Spanish Flamenco studio in Manhattan and the official North East headquarters of EFA, Escuela de Flamenco de Andalucía.

With their extensive career, they have established themselves as ambassadors of flamenco in the United States, spreading its essence and cultural richness across the country.
